A True Disciple
hearts. By trusting in Him and following His ways, we can be confident that He will lead us in ways that advance His kingdom and glorify His name.
N is for NURTURE
The Word of God is our most important source of spiritual food. We are to desire it, read it, study it, meditate on it, and obey it. Constant use of the Word trains us to distinguish good from evil (Heb 5:14). The more we know it, the more we will come to understand who we are in Christ. Paul reminds us in 2 Tim 3:14 to “ continue in the things you have learned and been convinced of. ” This means we are actively engaged in pursuing spiritual maturity by nurturing our new man in Christ. Remember, we are engaged in “ the good fight of the faith, ” as Paul describes it in 1 Timothy 6:12. We must make use of everything we have been given, in order to develop into a mature believer in Christ. This is a life long process. The good news is, He who began this good work in us “ will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ ” (Phil 1:6).
