I is for INVEST

In Luke 12, God reminds us of the importance of being rich toward Him. Jesus tells a parable about a rich man who has so much that he needs more space to keep his increasing possessions. So, he reasoned that he would tear down his barns and build bigger ones, thinking to himself that he will have plenty for many years. But God said to him, “ Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be ” (Lu 12:20)? The parable is a warning against covetousness. Jesus concludes by saying, “ so is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God ” (Lu 12:21). The point is, we should invest our time in developing our spiritual life and invest our lives in the lives of others, thus enabling us to become more effective in advancing the gospel and making disciples. This investment not only brings dividends now, but the ultimate dividend will also be paid when we reach our eternal destination. A wise person will invest their time in things that have eternal value. Investing is ultimately about loving God and serving others.
