Larry Gwaltney come up to introduce the guest speakers. Back in December we entered into a partnership with Office Depot which is called VSFA savings. Larry introduced Dean DaConti to the group. Dean thanked everyone on behalf of Office Depot for your services to your communities. Back about a year ago he spoke with Sandy and Jim on a program that would involve savings not only for the Association but also each department and their families. It is free to sign up on the VSFA website and then you can buy office supplies, furniture, cleaning supplies at discount prices. Mr DaConti said he and his son will be at the VSFA booth and will help anyone to sign up your department for these savings and discounts and can be passed on to members and their families. He will also have samples of cleaning products for vehicles. Easy way to get the savings card is text VSFASPC to 555888. Larry also spoke about the First Net Program by AT&T. He said Paul Hunt is here with AT&T and they are a Gold sponsor for our conference this year. Mr. Hunt said that he is glad to be here and honored to be a gold sponsor this year. He knows that this conference has representation from the entire state and he lives in Hampton Rhodes and have associates in Charlottesville and Northern Va. He said that First Net is the First Responder network authority. ATT was awarded a 25 year contract by the National Government to provide a nation- wide public safety broadband network that would be affordable. These government rates are available for volunteers. Reading of a Resolution: President Byer introduced Walt Bailey who will be presenting a resolution. Mr. Bailey met a young lady that was bullied in the 3 rd grade. Ms. Emily Fitchman to this day has handed out more than 120,000 thank you cards to First Responders, EMS, Fire, Dispatchers, etc. This all started with an interaction with a school resource Officer who helped her to deal with the bullying. This is her way to thank all First responders and persons in Public Safety in Virginia and other states for all they do. Walt read the resolution and presented to her on behalf of the VSFA. She was also presented with a VSFA Challenge Coin and announced she will be nominated for the Citizens Award for the Governors’ award for 1 st Responders and hope to see her in February. Reading of the Roll : Sandy Byer, Assistant Secretary completed the roll call of attendees by Departments’ present. Approval of Minutes as Distributed : David Akers made motion to approved minutes as distributed in the Redbook. Jeff Flippo 2 nd approved. Treasurer’s Report : Mike Masciola Reviewed the fiscal report for 2017 – 2018. Full report is in the Redbook. Took in Cash receipts of $100,567.82 and spent $113,666.49. We spent $13,098.67 more than we took in and this will come out of our reserve account. Our Tax return for 2017 was filed and is available online. The outside accounting firm completed the review of our June 30, 2017 accounting records and found in order. Will be sending June 30, 2018 within the couple of weeks. Presentation: Pete Kirby 2 nd Vice President and his wife Lauren purchased and donated a Fire Bell to the Association for Memorial services and special events. At this time Pete presented the bell to President Byer on behalf of the Virginia State Firefighter’s Association. Additions/Deletions to Agenda : None reported
