NVFC Directors – Ken reported no change since last meeting. Next meeting will be in April in Alexandria. CFSI - Steve Ennis reported he will be attending the CFSI activities and if the Association has a list of agenda items or legislative issues on the National level, he will deliver but will only be going to his Congressmen. Steve will be covering his own expenses. Jeff Flippo will also be attending and will drive back and forth. Jeff will contact Scott to see if they will be sponsoring someone from VSFA to attend like last year. Fire Prevention - Jeff will be attended VFPA conference in May in VA Beach. Will be working with them on agritourism and school lock situation. He was asked to serve on the nominating committee in which he accepted. Auxiliary Liaison - Phil Sica will be attending the Auxiliary zone meeting in Spotsylvania in April 5 & 6. EMS Advisory Board - Eddie Ferguson sent President Byer an email this morning. He provided a Brief update regulation of compliance from OEMS on new rules and regulations. He attended the EMS Advisory board meeting February 8 and will be attending the May 3 rd meeting. Purposed Chapter 32 are complete. Th02 which details every change in chapter 31 and 32. Plan is to Present these at the June meeting at the Virginia Department of Health. He said look like we are 18 to 24 months away from adopting new regulations. Walt Bailey reported that EMS lost the immediate program about a year ago. There is a national move to force Paramedics to have degrees. They are trying to stop this because if this passes 132 training organizations volunteer will have to shut down training paramedics. Walt said he would like our organization to support this and when the time is needed and send a letter of support from our organization opposing this. Walt made a motion to oppose paramedics to having a degree to practice. 2 nd by David Akers. All approved. National EMS Registry is trying to get this passed. Ken Brown reported that the NFVC is also supporting not to do this. Newsletter/Magazine - Pete Kirby reported he will meet with Tim Edwards from fire news and he wants to put together one for VA fire news. Will put together a proposal and will send out thru secretary to review and will Membership Update . Dues will be mailed out first part of next week and will be able to pay online and print your cards online once dues are paid. If they mail in dues, they will be given a code to go online and print their cards. This will save us a lot in postage in mailing these cards. Will have conference registration on line VSFA applications- No applications Unfinished Business: Fireball Whiskey – Jeff or Mike have not heard anything. Jeff said they won’t return their calls. Safer Grant – Kevin Duck looked the safer grant and it is a dead issue. Wayne Grimsley – Talked to Larry and there is a possibility of a golf tournament at the conference this year. Mark Bowery have been kicking it around. If you know a person who could facilitate a class on does and don’t, and ethics of social media let him know. Jeff gave him Dave Stafford, he has done several for him in Fredericksburg area. be at August meeting to answer questions. Recruitment & Retention – No Report VSFA- No communications
