This painting was created in the city of Sumy. It represents several important symbols of Ukraine. Poppy is a wildflower that grows in the fields and near Ukrainian houses. According to folk belief, the wild field poppy grows where Ukrainian soldiers bowed their heads in the struggle for their native land, most likely because of the flower’s resemblance to bloodstains on the clean canvas of a field. The painting recreates the image of a flower from a wild field that tells the story of its people through music.
