As we look to next year, our team remains committed to ensuring that each of our students is empowered to reach their full potential. We will do this by providing all children with challenging and enriching educational programs that push them to achieve at the highest levels. We will continue to expand opportunities for all students to participate in higher-level classes in all schools across the district. We will do this by supporting advanced academic options for all students, no matter their zip code. By providing all of our students with what they need to achieve, we are helping them to become all that they are capable of becoming. One of the key challenges facing MCPS in the 2023-2024 school year is the significant reduction in funding from our needs-based budget. This loss of $4.5 million in anticipated funding will cause decreases in staffing, supplies, and some programs. Our schools add significant and measurable value to our community, and our schools are one of our community’s greatest assets. Despite this budgetary setback, our staff members remain committed to working through this budget anomaly. We will do all in our power to mitigate the impact this reduction will have on the education of our students. Community support for funding dedicated to public education is critical for MCPS to continue to be a driver of community growth and well-being. Thank you for your continued support of Montgomery County Public Schools. We hope you have a great summer, and we cannot wait for August to begin the next chapter of our educational journey together.
