HONORING FRIENDS & LOVED ONES
MCGRADY-LIDDLE SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT Sarah Liddle established the “McGrady-Liddle Scholarship Endowment,” in September 2023 to honor her parents, William Glen and Frances Opal McGrady Liddle. Ms. Liddle said, “It is my hope that this scholarship will provide the ability for continued educational opportunities to a young person needing a leg up to achieve their professional goals.” DELTA DENTAL SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT This scholarship was established in August 2022 by Delta Dental in celebration of the company’s tenth anniversary. Delta Dental is the nation’s leading provider of dental insurance. Its core purpose is the advancement of the oral health of its customers, partners and consumers through dental insurance and the philanthropic efforts of Delta Dental companies. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene or Dental Assisting Programs. DR. SANDRA PARMETER SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT This scholarship was established by her husband, Dr. Christopher Parmeter, in December 2021 in honor of Sandra and in recognition of the time and effort she has dedicated to her craft. Nursing is more than a job for Sandra, it is a passion and one that has, and continues to allow her to reach people in need and help them recover. Sandra completed her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree from WCC in May 2011. She subsequently completed her Bachelor of Nursing Degree through the University of Wyoming in 2014 and the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Miami in 2021. This scholarship provides awards to WCC students who are enrolled in the Nursing Program. HAROLD AND MARGARET COX SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT This scholarship was established in December 2021. Harold is a native of Grayson County, and Margaret was a native of Carroll County. Harold graduated from WCC in 1971 and subsequently earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Virginia Tech. He taught agriculture at Fort Chiswell High School for seven years. Margaret earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education and Mathematics from Radford University. She taught mathematics at Fort Chiswell High School for 32 years. This scholarship provides assistance to students who are residents of Carroll or Grayson counties who are enrolled in Education, Mathematics, Machine Technology, or agriculture-related programs. EMILY P. STEVENSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND This scholarship was established in November 2021 by Mrs. Jane S. Geis in honor of her mother. The scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students enrolled at WCC in an approved program of study who have successfully completed at least one semester. DAN HARRISON SCHOLARSHIP FUND This scholarship was established in May 2024 by Phyllis P. Harrison in honor of her husband’s 70th birthday. Dan is an alumnus of WCC; he graduated in 1974 with an associate degree in Drafting & Design Technology and then transferred to Virginia Tech where he completed a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The scholarship provides assistance to WCC students enrolled in the Associate of Science Program, Engineering Major who are residents of Grayson or Carroll counties or the City of Galax who meet other established criteria. BOBBIE JEAN SLATE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND Bobbie was an Outreach Counselor in WCC’s Talent Search Program from 2016-2021. She passed away in February 2022. Leticia Maldonado, Talent Search Program Director, honored Bobbie’s memory by establishing this fund to support alumni of the Talent Search Program who plan to enroll at WCC following their high school graduation. WYTHE COUNTY VFW POST 2719 SCHOLARSHIP FUND This scholarship was established by members of Wythe County VFW Post 2719 to provide financial assistance to deserving WCC students who are residents of Wythe County and are descendants of Veterans who have served in a branch of the United States military. FRIENDS OF THE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS NURSING STUDENT ASSISTANCE FUND “The Friends of the Southwest Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Nursing Student Assistance Fund” was established in March 2025 by the Board of the Friends of the SWVA Medical Reserve Corps. These funds will be used to provide financial assistance to eligible Wytheville Community College (WCC) Associate Degree in Nursing program students. MOLLY MLYNSKI JONES MEMORIAL EMERGENCY FUND FOR NURSING STUDENTS This fund was established in 2025 to honor the memory of an extraordinary nursing student whose compassion and dedication to the nursing profession continues to inspire future nurses. The fund provides emergency financial assistance to students currently enrolled in WCC’s Nursing Program who are experiencing unexpected financial hardships that could interfere with their ability to continue their education. SHERYL GREYNOLDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Sheryl Ann Greynolds Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in 2025 to honor the memory of an extraordinary nurse who was committed to the profession and to her patients. The goal of the scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to future nurses. This fund provides financial assistance to students currently enrolled in the Nursing Program at Wytheville Community College (WCC) who need assistance with textbooks, course materials, testing fees, or who are experiencing unexpected financial hardships that could interfere with their ability to continue their education. 8
