Call for Manuscripts All submitted articles should be a single spaced Word document, with 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and should be in APA style. Please send your manuscripts or questions to Dr. Agida Manizade at vmt@radford.edu with the appropriate subject line. The deadline for each call is December 30th, 2017.
Teaching Dilemmas We are accepting articles that include teachers’ reflections on mathematical topics you find chal- lenging to teach. If you have a difficult problem or topic you use for your students, please describe the problem, discuss common student difficulties with it, and the way you approach teaching this topic. Subject line: Teaching Dilemmas Research or Practitioner Articles We are accepting papers on elementary, middle, and secondary mathematics teaching and educa- tion. The Spring 2018 theme will be "Moving Mountains with Mathematics." Articles will be peer-reviewed and comments will be shared with the author. Please provide articles in a word docu- ment no more than 5 pages (not including corre- sponding images, graphs, etc.). Unsolved Mathematical Mysteries We are accepting articles about fascinating mathe- matical problems that have not yet been solved. The problem itself should be described simply so that a middle school student could understand it. It should also include the progress that has been made by the mathematics community on solving this problem. Subject line: Unsolved Mathematical Mysteries Math Girls What does your school district or institution do to encourage girls in mathematics? Send any infor- mation or publications related to girls in mathe- matics education. Subject line: Math Girls My Remarkable Student Have you had a student that changed the way you think and teach? Send an article describing your experiences with this student and the ways they have affected your teaching. Subject line: My Remarkable Student Busting Blockbusters In this section we are accepting suggestions for scenes from movies for readers to analyze and explain the mathematical plausibility of them. Please describe the scene and provide a timestamp for it. Subject line: Busting Blockbusters Suggestion Calling Virginia Authors Virginia residents whose articles appear in the VMT will be granted free membership in the VCTM for one year.
