Yanfeng Hourly Nonexempt Handbook

The vacation year will run from January 1st through December 31st. All vacation is loaded on January 1 st .

Vacation is accrued based on the chart. Accrued means that you need to work to accrue and to use vacation time. If your employment terminates during the calendar year and you have used vacation that you have not accrued, the negative balance will be deducted from your final paycheck. Vacation pay is the employee’s regular rate of pay for the approved time off and generally will be paid on the regularly scheduled payday. Vacation can be taken in ½ days, this would be 4- or 5-hour increments. Employees should submit vacation plans/requests to their Supervisor and/or Manager at least 48 hours in advance of the requested vacation date. The Supervisor and/or Managers are responsible for ensuring adequate staffing levels. The earlier the vacation request, the more likely the vacation request can be accommodated. Pre-planning of absences due to doctor’s or personal appointments versus calling in the day of the appointment will greatly help with the staffing of your department and assure you that vacation time off can be granted. Plant leadership representatives have the right to deny the vacation request should personnel levels fall below manning requirements. If you are schedule to work on a weekend and request vacation time on a Friday, you would need to request vacation time for the schedule on the weekend. Employees may be required to use vacation during plant shut-downs and when customer volumes are low requiring temporary lay-offs. If an employee is not able to take vacation due to operational reasons, and there is accrued and unused vacation at year-end, this accrued and unused vacation will be paid to employees as a one-time payment in a normal payroll and is subject to normal taxation.

Vacation Time for New Hires

New employees begin to accrue paid vacation immediately but may not take any vacation until their 90-day introductory period has been satisfied. Vacation is accrued on a monthly basis in even increments.

For employees with less than one year of service, they will be credited with the following vacation entitlement based on their hire date.
