Choral

Show Us Mercy (JR)

when the anthem is purchased. The flute part is not listed as an optional part. However, the organ part could be easily arranged to eliminate the flute part if a flautist is not available.

Janet Sullivan Whitaker, World Library Publications 007831, unison choir, cantor, assembly, guitar, and keyboard, 2019. If you need a piece for a Sunday when the choir is light, or you want to try something new and different, this piece gives you options. A cantor or soloist might sing the piece through the first time, and on repeat have the choir or assembly join in. The piece could also be rearranged so that soloists could sing it in Tagalog or Spanish (texts included) before singing in English; those with bilingual services might find this piece helpful as a means of engaging both languages within the choir. It could serve as an ensemble piece in the summer, then reintroduced for the congregation to sing during Ash Wednesday or Lent the following year. Kevin Hildebrand, Birnamwood Publications, a division of MorningStar Music Publishers, Inc., MSM-50-5914, two-part mixed voices, organ, and flute (MSM-50-5914A), 2018. The familiar Irish tune SLANE is paired with a 20 th century text by Timothy Dudley-Smith. This can be sung by a two-part choir or as a two-part duet. The final verse can be sung by the congregation and there is a reproducible congregational page included Christ Be My Leader (BA)

Create a Clean Heart in Me / I Will Rise and Go to My Father (JR)

Lorraine Hess, arr. by Ed Bolduc, World Library Publications 008397, SATB choir, cantor, assembly, guitar, and keyboard, 2013. Set like a responsorial psalm, the refrain provides text from Psalm 51, or alternatively, from Luke 15. The refrain is SATB, while the verses alternate between cantor, SA/TB, and full ensemble with cantor, and is simple to learn. Themes of forgiveness and mercy work throughout the liturgical year, but if you plan far in advance, consider this piece during Lent next year when either of these Scriptures occur.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness (BA)

Dan Forrest. Beckenhorst Press, Inc., 2022.

Like “Let Us Break Bread Together,” listed on the next page, this piece combines the familiar text of Thomas Chisolm and tune FAITHFULNESS ofNo. 140 in The United Methodist Hymnal in a variety of choral arrangements SATB (BP2210), SSAA (BP2296), TTBB (BP2297) (Cont. on next page)
