Westminster Presbyterian Church Centennial Book
Westminster ’ s annual Candlelight Service continues to be a highlight of the Christmas season. Some of you will recall when we used to have a live Christmas tree.
In the past several years the church has experienced major ups and downs, and on many occasions I was quite sure I didn ’ t have what it takes to lead a group so precious. Therefore, the second part of the Philippians 1:3 - 6 passage has brought me great encouragement and hope – it is not I who began a good work in you, and I will not be carrying your faith to completion. No, Jesus is the author and perfecter of your faith. Together, as we fix our eyes upon Him, He will carry to completion His good work until we meet him face to face. He is the Head of this church and so with confidence I look forward to what God has in store for Westminster over the next 100 years!
It took a specially ordered tree to meet our height requirement. And oh, indeed, there are stories that can be told about getting something that big, and that heavy up the front steps, down the sanctuary aisle, much less getting a tree of this magnitude to stand straight in a tree stand.
Now, back to the present, and our conclusion.
How thankful we can be that God sent Jonathan here to us.
Jonathan Rockness
What a blessing he and his family have been to us and to the community.
