The Ways and Means Committee asked for the following raffle items for the Fall Zone meeting and had the following volunteers: Hams – Hose Co. # 4 Auxiliary, Sis Blosser, Individual Member and Buckroe Auxiliary The Ways and Means Committee also reminded everyone to bring canned foods for the food baskets at the Fall meeting. Secretary, Tina Puffenbarger asked to explain the Scholarship Application to new members so they were aware. Tina also mentioned that that if anyone was interested in purchasing t-shirts, etc. they should see Sis Blosser. To clarify how bills work she reminded everyone if they had a bill to present that they should send to the Secretary, Tina Puffenbarger first and she will forward to Sis Blosser, Treasurer for payment. The Secretary read an invitation from Christiansburg Auxiliary to host the Spring 2021 Zone Meeting. A motion was made by Joan Dempsey, Vienna and seconded by Karen Sica, Individual Member to accept the invitation. The invite was approved on a vote from the group. President Garnett mentioned a showed a challenge coin that the VSFA has available for $10 each. Karen Sica, Resolutions Committee, was called on to read the Convention Resolution. The Nominating Chairman, Carolyn Landis was called on to lead the meeting in the election of officers and the following slate of officers was selected: President – Carol Stickley, Hose Co. #4 Vice President – Linda Cage, South Hill Secretary – Tina Puffenbarger, Hose Co. #4 Treasurer – Sandra Blosser, Individual Member Chaplain – Lisa Saul, Riner Conductress – Amanda Smith, Christiansburg Assistant Conductress – Ayla Landis, Hose Co. #4 Historian – there were two nominations, Brianna Claxton, Spotsylvania #1 and Amy Sheppard, Christiansburg. A hand written vote was taken and Brianna Claxton will be the new Historian. There were no other nominations from the floor. Tina Puffenbarger, Secretary, cast the unanimous ballot for the offices. President Garnett called for the presentation of annual awards. The Jean Pickin Scholarship Award, presented by Jean Pickin and Joan Dempsey, was awarded to the Hose Co. #4 Auxiliary. This award is for donating the most to the Scholarship Fund during the year. The Williams-Simms Award, for the auxiliary donating the most to the Firefighter’s Relief Fund during the year was presented by Joan Dempsey to the Bridgewater Auxiliary and Hose Co. #4 Auxiliary. The Mother Travers Award was presented by Joan Dempsey to the auxiliary who had the largest attendance for the three meetings of the year. The award was presented to Tappahannock and Hose Co. #4 Auxiliaries. Mother Morgan Award was presented by Hose Co. #4 Auxiliary by Carolyn Landis to Spotsylvania #1 Auxiliary for having the most members with ten attending the convention meeting. Joan Dempsey, Liz Garnett presented The Karen Brennan Spirit Award to Tina Puffenbarger, Hose Co. #4. The Past President’s Club Point of Light Award is presented for having at least 4000 hours of volunteer service. Joan Dempsey and Jean Pickin presented the Award to Elizabeth Garnett, Fredericksburg.
