President Garnett called for the presentation of new Life Members. The following three new life members were presented:

Donna Webb, Poquoson, by Betty Forrest Jean Southall, Poquoson, by Judy Stewart Judy Blalock, Buckroe, by Margaret Langley

All life members were asked to stand and there were 26 present. The total Life Members to date is 350. President Garnett asked for the oldest members to be recognized. The following is a list of the four oldest members: Vera Lloyd age 90 from Vienna; Goldie Appleton age 90 from Vienna; Margaret Miller age 87 from Bridgewater; and Sylvia Baker age 81, Individual Member. There were no auxiliaries attending their first meeting. However, there were five members attending their first meeting: Donna Hawkins, Spotsylvania #1; Karen Johnson, Spotsylvania #1; Jean Southall, Poquoson; Judy Stewart, Poquoson; Betina McQuire, Riner. There were no other Associations present or no guests present. All Past Presidents were asked to stand and be recognized. There were nine in attendance. Secretary Puffenbarger read the minutes of the Spring Zone Meeting held in Tappahannock. The minutes were approved with one correction on a motion by Jean Pickin of Buckroe and a second from Sylvia Baker, Individual Member. The vote to accept the minutes was carried. At this time we were joined in our meeting by Larry Gwaltney of the VSFA and Dale Jamison, Chaplain of the VSFA. Larry welcomed the group and stated it was nice to see us. He announced that the Conference Committee and the VA Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads had voted to do a joint conference beginning in 2019. The proposal calls for the first joint meeting to be held in Hampton. The business parts of the meetings will stay the same for both groups. Some social activities will be combined. There will be enhanced training. Contest for the EMS will now be done by the VAVRS. Conference registration price will stay the same at $50. In 2020 the conference is proposed to held in VA Beach in September. After 2020 a decision will be made on rotation or not. A joint meeting will be held on Friday, August 3 at 1:30 PM and all are welcome to attend. Dale Jamison announced the the oldest members of the VSFA that he brought to our meeting: John Pickin age 78 from Buckroe, Roy Little age 75 from Poquoson, Frank Blake age 84 from Buckroe, and George Nazinale age 77 from OWL. Each one was asked to speak to our Auxiliary. This group of ladies and men and the Greetings Committee returned to the men’s meeting to share greetings from our Auxiliary. Sandra Blosser gave the Treasurer’s Report with the following balances: Ways & Means Fund…………………………………….. $15,041.65 Firefighter’s Relief Fund………………………………… 12,662.48 Scholarship Fund………………………………………… 8,886.74 Savings Account…………………………………………. 11,034.88 CD . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 20,261.57 There was one correction to the Treasurer’s Report. A motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report with correction was made by Linda Cage, South Hill and seconded by JoAnn Johnson, Fox Hill. Motion carried. The secretary read two correspondences. There was a thank you note from Sarah Williams and Ethan Johnson for their Scholarships.
