Comments Continued: Ken Brown also reported that he received a call from VA Wesleyn College that wants to provide a 10% discount for our members and members families for mainly online courses, but on campus as well. They are partnered with 12 or 15 other colleges that will accept their classes with the 10% discount and it is a member benefit and all we are doing is allowing the information to be put on our website as a reference for members. It will take a signature for approval. After a discussion it was ok to go ahead and do this and Ken Brown will take care of this as well as Larry Gwaltney adding the information to the website. Larry Logan said that David Akers had surgery and is having a rough time. If you get a chance, please give him a call or send him a card. He is home and has a long way to go. Jimmy Byer and Larry Logan had visited him at separate times. If you are in that area stop by and see him, he would love the visit. Larry Gwaltney said he talked to Tommy Chinault yesterday and he was not here because he did not have a way. Tommy has various medical problems and he is considering resigning as district rep. Since Cory Beasley reigned as conference chair, it was his understanding that he also resigned as assistant district rep. Larry said he would try and go to the next meeting in Rappahannock to see who a good candidate for a district rep. might be Lloyd Goddard ask if anyone had an update on Warren Winter. Dale Jamison said that he talked to Kevin Duck last night and he is back home and recovering very well. Jimmy reported that if you have a credit card, please every month get the receipts organized and send to Scott in a timely manner, so he can get them to Mike. They are having a real hassle going through them 2 or 3 months behind and that reall y PO’s Scott because he likes to do things right. I am afraid we may lose our Secretary if we don’t do things the way we have them set. Also get your expense reports into Scott within 10 days after you do something. Pete Kirby asked if there was any good reason why we cannot cancel all Association Credit Cards? Lauren had a real problem with them. He said there is not enough punishment for the ones that are not following the policy and bad thing is all the late fees we are incurring. I would like to see us to avoid these fees altogether and cancel all our association credit cards. Jimmy Byer said he has no problem with these, everyone will have to use their personal credit cards and send in their expense report with receipts within 10 days of the transaction to get paid. Larry Gwaltney reported that in the finance committee meeting they noticed that there was about $1,500 that was incurred for late charges on the Credit Cards that were directly related to the bill not being paid on time which was because of not turning in reports. Jimmy said you might want to keep 2 or 3 of them for the Treasurer or Secretary to use. After a discussion Ken Brown said we need to table this for the next meeting so the Secretary and Treasurer will be here to express their concerns and Jimmy Byer agreed. Will table until next meeting.
