Green Beans Amandine
Ingredients: 1 lb. fresh or frozen green beans or 1 (15 oz.) can 1/4 cup slivered almonds 2 tbsps. butter
garlic powder to taste onion powder to taste
Instructions: For each pound of prepared green beans, fresh, frozen or 1 15 oz can, sauté over medium love heat ¼ cup of slivered almonds in 2 Tbsp. butter. Watch and stir, they burn easily, remove when lightly golden. Toss gently with green beans and serve. Add a hefty sprinkle of both garlic powder and onion powder. This takes ordinary green beans to a new level.
Almonds toasted in butter on young green beans, oh my!
Note: Green beans are best fresh, young and whole. As we grow and freeze our own we are spoiled with delicious young beans year round. Buy fresh if at all possible. Cutting beans causes them to lose some of their flavor and nutrients. We prefer steaming; however, this recipe can make even canned green beans special.
