Walnut Cake Greta Garbo
Ingredients: For the dough: 4 cups flour 1 cup unsalted butter 3 eggs milk 1/2 cup sugar 2 tsps. sour cream 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla extract
For the filling: 2 cups plus 1 cup ground walnuts plus sugar 1 jar of jam (Any kind works)
For the glaze: 4 tbsps. sugar 2 tbsps. cocoa 3 tbsps. water 1/4 cup butter
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease the inside of the baking sheet and sprinkle with flour. Set aside. Mix flour with butter, add 3 egg yolks and 1 whole egg, sugar, sour cream, baking soda, and vanilla. Work all ingredients together until you have a well kneaded dough. Divide into 3 equal parts and let it rise. Sprinkle flour on your work area and start rolling one part of the dough until you have a sheet the size of the pan. Carefully roll it around your roller and unroll it at the bottom of the pan. Spread half the jam on the dough and half the walnut and sugar mixture. Roll the next part and repeat the process. Finally the last part. Make a few holes with a fork and place the cake in the oven. Cooking time depends on the oven, anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour. After taking the cake from the oven, place a cutting board same size or larger than the pan to cover it. After a few minutes flip them over. The cake should be on the board upside-down. To reverse it we need another board to place it on the top of the cake and repeat the flipping process. Now we are ready for the chocolate glaze . Prepare the glaze by placing all the ingredients in a small size pan, bring it to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer until it is not runny. Spread the glaze on top of the cake. Cut the cake in small squares after completely cool. It is best to actually leave it till the next day. Preserve the cake in a cool place, if you refrigerate it, it can last a long time.
