Sesame-Soy Marinated Flank Steak with Wasabi Spiked Cauliflower Mash Ingredients: 1-1/2 lbs. flank steak Salt Black pepper, freshly ground 1 tsp. ginger, thinly sliced and peeled 1 clove garlic, thinly sliced 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce 1 tbsp. sesame oil 1 tsp. honey For Cauliflower Mash: 1 large head cauliflower, core removed, cut into florets 1/2 to 1 tbsp. wasabi powder mixed to a paste with an equal amount of water 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper, freshly ground Instructions: To marinate the steak, season it on both sides with salt and pepper. In a large bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and honey and mix well. Add the steak and turn to coat. Refrigerate overnight. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Bring the steak to room temperature before grilling by setting it on the counter for about 20 minutes. To make the cauliflower mash, fill a saucepan with a steamer basket with about 2-inches of water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Put the cauliflower florets into the steamer basket. Cover the pan and cook for 8-10 minutes., just until the cauliflower is fork tender. Using a hand masher or a fork, mash the cauliflower as you would potatoes, and add the wasabi paste, olive oil, salt and pepper and blend to desired texture. Adjust seasoning, as needed. To grill the flank steak, remove it fromthemarinade, letting the excessmarinade run off, and place it on the grill pan. Grill for 4 to 6 minutes pers sider, until cooked to medium-rare. For a more well done steak cook 1 to 2 more minutes per side. Set aside on a cutting board an let rest about f5 minutes before thinly slicing against the grain and serving with the mash.
