Ballot Item No. 1: The Ruritan National Bylaws ARTICLE I Name/Emblem/Politics, Section 3, Reads as follows: “This organization and its members shall be non-sectarian and non-partisan and shall take no action endorsing or condemning any candidate or measure which is to be submitted to the vote of the people.” The board approved striking the current wording and inserting new wording as follows: “This organization shall be non-sectarian and non-partisan.” The chair invited Homer “Billy” Hobbs to address his submitted appeal to move to appeal to the delegates of the 2025 Ruritan National Convention to rescind the board action approving BOD Motion Year: 2024, Month: October, Motion #4; (including any amendments made before its passage in December 2024) which restructured the NBOD Standing Committees from seven to three (Growth, Training, and Communication) and changed the way the committee chairs were appointed. Further move to reinstate the original seven Standing Committees: Advancement, Bylaws, Growth Development and Member Retention, Leadership Development, Publications, Publicity and Public Relations, and Youth Activities.
President Robin invited 2024 Foundation Vice President Guy Cox to give a report.
Guy Cox gave a report of the Foundation on behalf of President Phillip Bradshaw. 1) Build Your Dollar Program. Encourage clubs to participate in the program. a. 2024 – 464 clubs receive a $675 scholarship for their $300.
b. 515 Clubs participating – growth of 50 more clubs. c. Payout for 2025 will be $350 for a total of $650.
2) Foundation Weekend will be held June 13-15, in Blackwater Falls, WV 3) Foundation investment today, impact tomorrow has 28 participants. 4) 2024 Trustees updated the foundation policy manual. 5) The foundation has $6,457,128 as of September 30, 2024 6) 2024 – 9 new endowed contracted funds were started with investment 7) 2024 – updated the two endowed contracted fund contracts 8) Please use the Ruritan Foundation short guide. This guide is up to date and located on the website. President-Elect Becky Lane asked Youth Committee Chair Perry Marshman to join them to recognize the 2024 Rudy Youth, Ruri-Teen of the Year. 2024 Rudy Youth of the Year – Audrey Decker , Butler, Tennessean 2024 Ruri-teen of the Year – Tyrice Young, Generations Club, Spartan District, South Carolina 2024 Ruritan of the Year – Drema Johnston, Barren Springs Community Club, New River District, VA Executive Director Sarah Kelly made final announcements. The Chair declared the meeting in recess at 6:02pm until 10:00 am on Saturday. The Chair asked President-Elect Becky Lane to help present the next awards.
