22. Faith Like A Seed
Scripture: Matthew 17:19-21; 13:31-32; Luke 17:5-6
Hymn:
"Moment by Moment"
Meditation: Jesus holds up the smallest seed commonly planted in His day to demonstrate the process of faith. The natural course of a seed is growth, and His followers were reminded that even the small seed could move the earth with great power, mature to great beauty, and provide for others at its maturity. Faith Begins in Christ. (Ephesians 2:1-10) A seed is dormant unless stimulated to life by planting. The smallest seed of humblest beginnings gives perspective to humanity when compared to Holiness. So it is that spiritual life in humanity comes only from above, and when human faith is placed in Christ alone, that instant life springs into man’s soul. Faith Grows when Nurtured. (1 Peter 2:2; 2 Pet. 3:18) A sprouting seed that never grew would be called “stunted” and “abnormal.” A Christian life that lacks growth in wisdom, knowledge of God, and maturing ways also gets labeled from God’s Word as unnatural “babes,” “weaker,” “carnal,” etc. New life in Christ, the water of God’s Word, and the blessings of God’s Holy Spirit nurture the willing, obedient believer to ever growing life (see 2 Corinthians 4:16). Faith Blesses when Flourishing. (Galatians 5:22-25) Notice that faith that matures becomes a blessing to others, as the Mustard Plant provided beauty, shade, protection, and nourishment to many.
Faith is the Victory, we know That Overcomes the World!
