12. Table of Thanks

Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2

Hymn:

"A Parting Hymn We Sing"

Meditation: Hebrews brings to light the many who have parted, yet who remain symbolically in communion with believers as heroes of faithfulness to the Lord. Three servants are seen in this picture of devotion around the Lord’s table.  The believer present The “we” emphasizes the striving of those living to endure in faith, reminded of God’s great sacrifice for sin and provision for endurance.  The believer past The “great cloud of witnesses” were described in chapter eleven, includin g the “still others” of 11:36, inspire us as those who prove the good life possible.  The believer’s Savior— Jesus The one to whom all believers can always look as the ever-living, ever-present Victor and Provider of life.

Give thanks with a grateful heart; Give thanks to the Holy One; Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now let the weak say, “I am strong;” Let the poor say, “I am rich,” Because of what the Lord has done for us.
