retired in 2017 as a word processing center supervisor. Gordon returned to the college after retirement and currently serves in various part-time positions. In 2003 Tim Jones received the award for his service as manager of Information Technology (IT) Systems Development. During his career at NRCC from 1986 to the present, Jones worked in numerous positions such as program/analyst, director for applications development in the ITC, and his current position as director of information technology and facilities services. The 2004 recipient was Margaret Bryner, who started her NRCC career in 1986 as manager of information technology services and retired in 2015 as the director of technology services in information technology. The 2005 recipient was Bonnie Hall, who worked for the institutional advancement office as the information center operator from 1987 to her retirement in 2011. Candy Mady was named outstanding support staff member in 2006 for her service as the coordinator of off-campus services in the Distance Education and Off-Campus Services department. Mady finished her 32 years of full-time service in 2018 as the coordinator of eLearning support and services in the Distance Education Office. For the past 51 years (since 1974), Mady has taught part-time for the Division of Business and Technologies. In 2007 Phyllis Anderson, the nursing admissions advisor in Admissions and Records, received the award. Anderson retired in 2020 after being a support staff member for approximately 43 years. Nancy Waddle, one of the longest employed support staff members on campus, received the award in 2008 for her service as the IT help desk coordinator. Waddle, who began working
at the college in 1972, retired in 2024 after 52 years of full-time service. In 2009 Gary Bryant, library specialist for circulation for 34 years (1985 to 2019), received the award. In 2014 Bryant organized the first of six ComicCon events held each fall on campus. Support Staff Awards for Part-Time Employees . Since 1999 the college has recognized a part-time outstanding support staff member who has made valuable contributions to the college. In 2000 Peggy Dunn received the award for her service in workforce development as a transitional instructor. Dunn’s valuable contributions to the college were acknowledged again in 2005 when she was selected by the VCCS as one of five inaugural high school career coaches. In 2008 Dunn began full-time employment as the coordinator of career pathways, and she retired in 2020 from her position as academic advising manager. The 2001 recipient was Jeannie Southern, who provided administrative support in workforce development. Southern, a graduate of NRCC, became a full time administrative support specialist in workforce development in Fall 2004 and continues in this role today. Kay Lookadoo, an assistant in the admissions office, was named the outstanding support staff member in 2002. The 2003 recipient was David Boyd for his work in facilities services. In March 2006, Boyd was hired as a full-time Trades Technician III in facilities services where he still works. In 2004 Kimberly Johnston received the award for her service in the admissions office. Johnston, a graduate of NRCC, became a full-time administrative assistant and nursing advisor in the admissions office in 2005 until 2012. From 2012 to 2014, she worked as a human resource analyst in
