SCHOLARSHIPS In the 2023 Scholarships Cycle, the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc. approved 199 scholarship awards from 47 endowed funds. These awards totaled $419,000.00. Seventy-nine graduating high school seniors from area high schools and two current college students received 150 awards; while 33 previous recipients qualified for renewals of their scholarships, with an additional 16 college designated awards given. The Foundation appreciates the diligence of the Scholarships Committee in reviewing and evaluating the applications and preparing the awards recommendations for the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Board Members serving on the Scholarship Committee are: Chairman Tom Chaffins, Gene Bailey, Deborah Garton, Cathy Corte Payne, and Peter Taylor, along with community members; Lisa Lineberry, Sharon Webster and Cathy Zimmerman.
