A message from our CEO

When I was 12, I found a quote tucked into the first page of a novel at the library—Truman Capote: “Love, having no geography, knows no boundaries.” It stopped me. Even before the story began, those words spoke volumes. That idea has stayed with me, quietly shaping how I view connection and community. As we reflect on another year of growth and service at CHIP of Roanoke Valley, I am reminded of the profound notion of "love without borders." This concept invites us to embrace a form of love that knows no edge or barrier, transcending societal divides and personal histories. It is a daily practice—an active choice to both give and receive love, to foster understanding, and to create a community where every individual feels valued and accepted. In our work together, we understand that love is not always easy. Each of us carries a unique story, shaped by our past experiences, which can sometimes cloud our ability to fully embrace love in all its forms. Yet, it is through this very acknowledgment of our histories that we can cultivate a deeper compassion for ourselves and for one another. By choosing to listen without judgment, we create a safe space where healing and transformation can occur. I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our donors, volunteers, community partners, and dedicated team members.
