Grants in Action BLUEFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Bluefield High School Mentoring Program and student achievement incentives were the focus for the 2024 Bluefield Primary School grant. BHS student/mentors (“Bluefield Buddies”) mentor second graders. The supportive framework targeted social skills while building positive relationships and collaboration with STEM activities. Studies have shown that students participating in mentoring programs have increased high school graduation rates, improved behaviors, and better attitudes about school. Rewarding student achievement creates a positive school and community culture. This grant also supported activities involved with awarding BPS Student of the Month activities.
