expense of the employee for which the practice will offer payroll deduction. Open enrollment is scheduled in August of each year.

Employee Discounts / Pet Health Benefits Any medications or supplies taken for personal pets will be charged to an employee at actual cost to Community Animal Clinic. Employees may not purchase medications and/or pet supplies at cost for friends or relatives. Veterinarian services requiring the skills of a veterinarian are discounted to all employees after 180 calendar days of service at the rate of 20%. After 4 years of service, the discount increases to 50%, and after 8 years of service, there is no charge to employees for veterinary services. A limit of up to $250 per year in services is in effect. This benefit is provided with the understanding that the services rendered are for the employee’s personal pets and the privilege is not abused. Discounts apply only to the hospital portion of the bill. If the charges for services are due the groomer, the biological laboratory, or a consulting doctor or service, then the employee is charged at the hospital’s cost.

When employment is terminated or an employee leaves voluntarily, all outstanding bills owed to Community Animal Clinic must be paid in full.

Continuing Education

All Veterinarians and licensed Veterinarian Technicians will be required to attend continuing education seminars to meet their requirements for licensing in the state of Virginia. A certificate of successful completion will be kept on file in the Clinic. The cost for such preapproved continuing education credits to maintain licensure will be paid for by Community Animal Clinic up to a total of $700 per year. In addition, each employee will be paid their hourly base rate for the number of hours attended. Employees who wish to continue their education toward the goal of adding to their existing veterinary-related or office administration credentials may be eligible for tuition reimbursement for pre-approved classes in keeping with the practice’s Tuition Reimbursement Agreement, a copy of which is available from Dr. Beamer and required in order to apply for tuition reimbursement.
