Grants

New River Valley Association of Realtors Grant | This $2,000 grant was used to purchase cleaning supplies for a special Micah’s Personal Care Items holiday distribution to our 144 Trolinger and New River House apartments. C.E. Richardson Foundation & Corning Incorporated Foundation Grants | Grants awarded from these charitable foundations were used to provide meals for residents receiving charitable assistance at Showalter Center and the Kroontje Health Care Center. Trolinger Trust | This grant helps support low-income seniors on our campus through the Resident Assistance Fund, helping to fund the purchase of essential items such as dentures, eye glasses, and hearing aids. Walmart Grant | Funds from this grant were used to purchase supplies for the Micah’s Personal Care Items program. In addition to these grants, Warm Hearth’s HUD Service Coordinator Grant was renewed in the amount of $76,000 . This grant funds a Service Coordinator position to assist low-income residents in the Trolinger and New River House apartments at Warm Hearth Village.

Grant awards play an important role in the Foundation’s work. Grants given by local organizations are especially meaningful. BB&T Lighthouse Project | Each year, BB&T branches select a nonprofit to support through the bank’s Lighthouse Project. Branch employees volunteer with the organization they select, and the organization receives a $1,000 grant. The Radford and Christiansburg branches selected the Warm Hearth Foundation as their 2019 Lighthouse Project. Employees from both branches spent time volunteering with Micah’s Soup for Seniors and Micah’s Meals, and grant funding was used to purchase laundry detergent for Micah’s Personal Care Items.

11 grants awarded, totaling $25,786
