21 University of Virginia’s College at Wise at Emory & Henry University November 9, 2024 • 1:00 p.m. • Fred Selfe Stadium Southwest Virginia Bowl VII Senior Day • Sports Hall of Fame Induction Today’s Game

Today’s Matchup Welcome to Fred Selfe Stadium on the campus of Emory & Henry University for today’s game as E&H hosts the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in South Atlantic Conference action for Southwest Virginia Bowl VII presented by Powell Valley National Bank. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Today is a very special day on the Emory & Henry campus. Not only do we welcome our rivals from deep Southwest Virginia, but it is also Senior Day. We will honor 11 football seniors and two cheerleaders prior to kickoff. Stay in your seats for this afternoon’s halftime festivities. Today is the “Spirit of Emory & Henry” Marching Band’s honor band day where more than 150 high school students will be on the field along with the E&H Marching Band. Following the band performance, we will have the public recognition of the 2024 induction class of the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame. About The Teams Emory & Henry comes into today’s game with a 7-2 record and a 5-2 mark in SAC contests. The Wasps are looking to post their highest win total since 2014 with a win today and have already wrapped up their first winning season in the NCAA Division II era of the program. UVA Wise is 3-5 on the year with a 2-4 SAC record. The Cavaliers are looking to tie their win total from the 2021 season today when they put up a 4-7 record. Wise beat Tusculum University by a 35-27 score in its final home game of the season last weekend. The Rivalry Emory & Henry and UVA Wise are meeting for the seventh time in program history today. E&H holds a 5-1 lead in the series, which has been dubbed the Southwest Virginia Bowl. The two teams met for the first time in a home-and-home in 1994 and 1995, with E&H winning both contests over then-Clinch Valley College. The rivalry resumed in 2010, with E&H winning the first game and UVA Wise claiming the 2011 edition. Now, with both programs members of NCAA Division II and the SAC, the series restarted in 2022, with E&H taking the last two games. About UVA Wise UVA Wise is under the leadership of first-year Head Coach Gary Bass. He holds a 3-5 record with the Cavaliers and a 29-47 career mark after seven seasons at Quincy University in Missouri. Cooper Wick is the Cavaliers’ quarterback and the reigning SAC Offensive Player of the Week. Last Saturday against Tusculum, Wick threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns on 27-for-39 passing. For the year, Wick has 560 yards through the air. Jake Corkren is the Cavaliers’ other signal caller and has 1,154 yards through the air for eight scores.
