Today’s Matchup Welcome to Fred Selfe Stadium on the campus of Emory & Henry University for today’s game as E&H hosts No. 17 Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference action. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Stay in your seats for this afternoon’s halftime festivities. During the halftime show, the “Spirit of Emory & Henry” Marching Band will honor its senior members. About The Teams Emory & Henry comes into today’s game with a 6-1 record and a 4-1 mark in SAC contests. The Wasps already wrapped up their first winning season in the NCAA Division II era of the program, taking down Anderson University by a 34-3 score on the road last week. E&H, which is receiving votes in the AFCA poll for a second week in a row, looks to move into a tie atop the Mountain Division standings with a win today. Carson-Newman is a perfect 7-0 (5-0 SAC) and is ranked No. 17 in NCAA Division II by the AFCA. The Eagles handled the University of Virginia’s College at Wise by a 35-23 score at home last Saturday. The Rivalry Emory & Henry and Carson-Newman are meeting for the 46th time in program history today. E&H holds the slimmest of leads in the series at 22-21-2. C-N has won the previous nine meetings between the two squads dating back to 1969 and 14 of the last 15. About Carson-Newman Carson-Newman is under the leadership of first-year Head Coach Ashley Ingram. He holds a 7-0 career record in his first campaign as a head coach. Ingram arrived at Mossy Creek after 16 years on staff at the United States Naval Academy where he served as assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. A 1997 graduate of the University of North Alabama, Ingram won three NCAA Division II Championships as a player.
