The Role and Status of Women in the Anglican Communion: A Conversation with Linda Baines – Buck Mountain Room
On behalf of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Linda Baines is coordinating the spouses’ program for this summer's Lambeth Conference. The conference occurs every ten years when all the bishops of the Anglican Communion gather in England. Martha Bourlakas is assisting her with this planning and will host and facilitate this workshop with Linda.
Becoming Beloved Community: A Conversation with ShaYron and Martin Jeffrey – Mill Mountain Room
Sha Y ron and Martin were co-coordinators of last Convention's Gainsboro Pilgrimage with our Presiding Bishop. As we continue to work together to dismantle racism and strive for reconciliation in Christ's name, this workshop will consider possible next steps of this work around our diocese. Parish Links: Leeds and Southwestern Virginia – Wilson Room Presented by Brian Loop, Parish Link Coordinator, this workshop will explore past and continuing parish links between churches in the Bradford area of the Diocese of Leeds and the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. It will also explore potential new links between churches in Leeds and Southwestern Virginia. Children’s Ministry Tool Kit and Conversation – Monroe Room Facilitated by Pattie Ames, our diocesan Christian Formation Missioner, this workshop will provide resources, creative ideas, and new ways to look at the church calendar with activities for children on Sunday mornings and beyond. If you oversee children’s ministry, teach Sunday School, are a parent, or walk with children on their spiritual journey, join Pattie for practical tools and conversation about children’s ministry at church, home, and in the neighborhood. Our Mission in the World - Episcopal Relief & Development's 1000 Days of Love Campaign and Diocese Global Goals Grants – Harrison-Tyler Rooms Nick Moga, the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia’s Coordinator for Episcopal Relief & Development, will discuss the Church's mission work in third world countries. He will emphasize the new 1000 Days of Love campaign to raise money for improving the development of children up to age six. Esther Larkin, the Chairperson of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia’s Global Goals Committee, will discuss diocesan Global Goal grants and how they can support diocesan mission work around the world.
