• be prepared to offer individuals and their loved ones the appropriate spiritual support needed to face addiction; or if unable to offer support, guide them to those who can offer appropriate spiritual care; • include intercessions for patients, families, and communities affected by substance use disorders in the Prayers of the People were appropriate; • offer information on proper medication disposal such as the National Take-Back Medication program; • consider partnership with the Opioid Intervention Team in your region; • teach and model self-care, mental health and wellness, and coping skills/resiliency within the community; • consider ways to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable; • work in partnership with The Episcopal Church Medical Trust, Recovery Ministries of The Episcopal Church, Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services ( http://www.dbhds.virginia.gov/developmental-services/substance-abuse- services ), The General Convention Task Force to Respond to the Opioid Epidemic, ( https://sites.google.com/view/opioid-task-force/home ), local first responders, funeral homes, other faith communities, agencies and community-based organizations to effectively address prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery, education, grief care, and advocacy.
