Busting Blockbusters

We are accepting articles that include teachers ’ reflections on mathematical topics you find challenging to teach. If you have a difficult problem or topic you use for your stu dents, describe the problem, discuss common student diffi culties with it, and the way you approach teaching this topic. Math Girls What does your school district or institution do to en courage girls in mathematics? Send any information or publications related to girls in mathematics education.

In this section we are accepting suggestions for scenes from movies for readers to analyze and explain the mathe matical plausibility of them. Please describe the scene and provide a timestamp for it.

Culturally Relevant Pedagogy in Mathematics Classrooms

In this section, we are accepting articles that address critical issues related to culturally relevant pedagogies in mathe matics education. These could be issues present at any level of mathematics education. Please send your article to Dr. Darryl Corey at dcorey3@radford.edu with the subject line “ VMT Journal. ” In this section, we explore the ways in which mathematics can be used to describe the natural world around us. This is most appropriate for the integrated environmentalist ap proach for teaching mathematics, where mathematics is taught in a real - life context.
