Patrick County offers a simple life, unhurried and rich in the traditions and friendliness of mountain communities. The county is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and our guests can stay at various B&Bs, cabins, campgrounds, resorts and motels. Patrick County is rich in historical attractions which include our antebellum courthouse, The Reynolds Homestead, Laurel Hill- the birthplace of General J. E. B. Stuart, Jack's Creek Covered Bridge and the site of the Bob White Covered Bridge. The Strawberry Festival, Peach Festival, Apple Dumpling Festival, the Faery Festival and the four day Front Porch Festival are some of the festivals to be enjoyed in the county. Numerous outdoor attractions include the Blue Ridge Parkway, Dan River, Philpott Lake, Kibler Valley, Fairy Stone State Park, Fred Clifton Park and Lovers Leap Overlook. Hikers and walkers can enjoy the natural beauty of Patrick County on the Mayo River Trail, Dan River Park Trail, Leaf Trail at Reynolds Homestead, Fairy Stone Loop, I. C. DeHart Park in Woolwine, Rock Castle Gorge Trail and Round Meadow Creek Loop. The county is home to a wide variety of biking options, from 15 miles of epic trail at I. C. DeHart Park in Woolwine to the ridgetop runs on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Unwind after your day of sightseeing, hiking or biking by visiting one of the county's wineries; enjoy a meal or a treat, a cup of coffee, donuts or ice cream at one of Patrick County's restaurants or bakeries. Listen to old-time mountain music along the Crooked Road Music Heritage Trail and explore the county's arts scene.
