REFUNDS Refunds are available if requested before the registration deadline of a program, unless tickets have been ordered. Pro-rated refunds will be considered mid-way through an activity on a case-by- case basis. Refunds are automatic when a program is cancelled by Montgomery County Parks and Recreation.

You can pay using Visa, Discover, MasterCard, or American Express. If you have registered with us before, you already have an account. If you do not remember your log- in information, click “Forgot your password?” and a reset email will be sent to you. MID-COUNTY PARK 390 Cinnabar Road, Christiansburg

Mid-County is the largest park in Montgomery County at 110 acres, and offers amenities including the Frog Pond Swimming Pool, Activity Center, Golden Hill Disc Golf Course, a playground, and a basketball court. Some unique features include the extensive nature trail system, wildlife habitat areas, aquatic and wetland areas, and a dog walking area. There are three picnic shelters, charcoal grills, and electricity. Wheelchair accessible trials are available to Shelters #1, #2, and the restrooms. The max capacity for each shelter is 100 guests. Shelters 1 and 2 are available for rent from April 1 through October 31.

COAL MINING HERITAGE PARK 751 Merrimac Road, Blacksburg

Located in the middle of the Huckleberry Trail between the Towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg, the Coal Mining Heritage Park is full of history and opportunity for exploration. The former Merrimac mining community resided on this 30-acre tract where you will now find a passive park with open green space. A large wooden bridge takes you into the park. An ADA accessible trail leads to the old mining entrance and some of the old foundations. The Coal Mining Loop Trail is 1.5 miles and is designed to accommodate bicyclists, joggers, walkers and trail users. There is a quarter-mile section designed to be accessible for wheelchair users. EASTERN MONTGOMERY PARK 5001 Enterprise Drive, Elliston Tucked away in the eastern part of the county on the South Fork of the Roanoke River is Eastern Montgomery Park. This park has some unique amenities such as a grass volleyball court, model airplane flying strip, and a canoe and kayak boat launch. A playground and walking trail by the river make this a great place to spend time with family and friends. As the largest shelter across the County parks, this shelter features 13 picnic tables, two grills, and electricity. MID-COUNTY ACTIVITY CENTER 390 Cinnabar Road, Christiansburg The Activity Center is used for summer camps and special programs. It is located adjacent to the Frog Pond Swimming Pool and near the Mid-County shelters, nature trails, and disc golf course. HUCKLEBERRY TRAIL The Huckleberry Trail extends from the Montgomery- Floyd Regional Library in downtown Blacksburg (200

a multipurpose practice field, a playground, a picnic shelter with tables, and a grill. PLUM CREEK PARK 1515 Hornsby Drive, Christiansburg Located in the western part of the County near the City of Radford, Plum Creek Park features a competition-level baseball/softball field, walking track, and playground equipment. There is also plenty of green space outside of the ball field that allows for activates such as dog walking and frisbee playing. The picnic shelter includes picnic tables and a grill. reservations Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. Park rental fees start at $30/ half day and $50/whole day. The season runs Apr. 1 - Oct. 31 Frog Pond swimming pool rental fees start at $175 for a minimum of 2 hours and $75 for each additional hour. The season runs Memorial - Labor Day. Franklin St.). Parking is available at the New River Valley Mall, the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library in Blacksburg, the Christiansburg Recreation Center, and where the Huckleberry Trail intersects Merrimac Road in Blacksburg. The trail is open to walkers, runners and bikers. Motorized vehicles and horses are not allowed. McCOY PARK 5770 McCoy Road, Blacksburg Just a 15-mintue drive from Blacksburg, McCoy Park features a youth baseball field, picnic shelter, walking track, and playground equipment. The shelter features picnic tables, concrete floors, a grill, and electricity. MOTOR MILE PARK 2306 Tyler Road, Christiansburg Built with donations from the Shelor Motor Group, Motor Mile Park includes a tournament style lighted baseball/softball field, dugouts,

disc golf course GOLDEN HILLS

Play Montgomery County Parks & Recreation’s 37-hole Disc Golf course for free! This unique course consists of wooded fairways with a variety of elevation gains. Out of 4,300 national public courses listed in the disc golf course database, Golden Hills is one of only 19 in the United States with 37 holes. This is also the 5th largest course east of the Mississippi!

RULES • Throw a disc from tee to target over each hole of the course in the fewest throws. • Each throw after the tee shot is addressed as a stroke from the lie of the previous throw. • Discs thrown over fencing or stuck in a tree at least six feet high are considered a penalty stroke. • Par for each 19-hole course is 57. Remember to yield to trail users when crossing paths.

SCORECARD Scorecards are available on our website (http://bit.ly/ goldenhillsdiscgolf) and are provided at the course. LOCATION From US Rt. 460, take Peppers Ferry exit. Turn left onto Cinnabar Road. Go 1/2 mile and take 1st right onto Authority Drive. (just before the walking overpass), then 1st left and park by the pavilion.

DAYCARE INFORMATION Prior notice is required for daycares that visit the Frog Pond so we will have enough staff on-hand; please call (540) 382-6975 at least 24 hours prior to your visit to advise us on how many children you will be bringing. Call us if you have any questions. Daycares are only permitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There must be at least one counselor per eight children - no exceptions. Counselors are asked to regularly patrol areas in which their children are at play. We ask that all buses park in the upper overflow parking lot.

390 Cinnabar Road, Christiansburg The county’s only outdoor public pool is a beach-entry leisure pool with water slides, fountains, and geysers. The tots’ pool provides enjoyment for children under the age of 5. For those of you just wanting to hang out in the sun, there is plenty of room! Pool season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Generally, when county schools are in session, the pool will be open Saturdays and Sundays only. The entire facility is available for rental from 7:00-10:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. aquatics AMERICAN RED CROSS SWIMMING LESSONS - $45 Mid-County Frog Pond Infant & Toddler (Ages 1-4), 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. This program builds swim readiness and confidence in the water with an emphasis on having fun. Parents and children participate in guided activities including bubble-blowing, floating on the front and back, elementary backstroke, freestyle and underwater swim. It is designed to teach parents the essentials so they can help teach their child; we ask that all parents participate in class.

aquatics AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CLASS - $200 Ages 15+, Mid-County Activity Center and Frog Pond This course provides the necessary skills to become a Certified Lifeguard, and includes American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED, and Lifeguarding Training. Individuals interested in the class should be strong swimmers able to swim 300 yards, tread water for two minutes, and complete a timed swim challenge.Come prepared to be challenged with these new skills. Our summer day camp is a great way for children to experience education and recreation outdoors! This is a well- structured camp that involves small group learning activities. Virginia’s newest ropes adventure course is located in the forest canopy at Mountain Lake. Mountain Lake Treetop Adventures is a fun way to get outside, challenge yourself, and experience the exhilaration of climbing through the tree canopy and riding zip lines through the forest. Sky bridges, swings, rope ladders and zip lines offer a range of challenges that are fun for both the novice, the super adventure seeker and everyone in between! There are no exceptions. KIDS IN KAYAKS - $20 6-7:30 p.m., Frog Pond Leisure Pool This beginner level class will introduce children ages 7-11 to the sport of kayaking, focusing on the parts of the kayak and all equipment needed to get started. Learning to get in and out of the kayak, floating in a life jacket (or PFD), practicing basic paddle strokes, and fun games in the pool will be part of the experience. Introducing your child to the sport of kayaking in a fun and controlled environment will help them get started in the right direction with proper technique. Recreation are proud to present the 10th Annual New River Paddle Fishing Tournament! Test your bass fishing skills in the prime waters of the New River against other local anglers and see if you have what it takes to land the big one! The tournament format is catch, photo, and release. All proceeds of the NRPFT go to the New River Conservancy. The tournament will cover an extended stretch on the New River from the Claytor dam to the West Virginia line. There will be Men’s and Women’s Spinning, Adult Open, Adult Fly, and Junior (16 and under) categories. Minors must have consent from a parent or guardian in order to participate. Registration includes entry into the tournament, a 2019 tournament t-shirt, shuttle transportation from tournament headquarters to Whitethorne, a catered dinner, live music, and raffle entry.
