Historic Earle Theatre and Old-Time Music Heritage Hall The Historic Earle Theatre in Downtown Mount Airy, built in 1938, is reminiscent of classic movie houses with an Art Deco-style design. It was built in 1938 and was chosen as a site for the premiere of “Gone with theWind” simultaneously with the grand opening of the film in Atlanta, Georgia. Inside is the Old-Time Music Heritage Hall, with exhibits on Surry County old-time and bluegrass musicians.
