Winter Spring 2020

What is the most common litter in U.S. streams? HOUSEHOLD WASTE Plastics can be especially hazardous to wildlife. Wood and paper waste can have biological and chemical impacts. Toxic materials can leak or leach out of certain kinds of trash, such as pressure-treated lumber, used automobile fluids and filters, batteries, etc. Your health and watershed health are linked. A healthy watershed provides cleaner water, less potential exposure to toxic materials, and more enjoyable outdoor experiences.

WHAT YOU CAN DO • Pick up trash that you see • Take reusable bags on your shopping trips • Generate less waste. Visit the EPA website “Ten ways to Unpackage Your Life” http://bit.ly/unpackage • Join a local clean up event!
