SENIOR SPECIAL EVENTS

 GO RED FOR HEART HEALTH – MONDAY, FEB. 3 Additional Information: American Heart Month represents a critical time for raising awareness of preventative actions and healthy lifestyle choices that lead to better heart health. Responsible for 1 in every 4 deaths, heart disease is a subject that needs to be addressed. Stop by the information table in the lobby between 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. to register for door prizes to be given away. Wear red on Friday, Feb. 7 for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women’s Heart Health Day.

 NRV SENIOR GAMES Additional Information: The New River Valley Senior Games are being organized by Christiansburg Parks and Recreation Department. The NRV Senior Games prepare persons to participate in the Virginia Senior Games at the state level, giving them the opportunity to qualify for the National Senior Games. There are a variety of events to participate in.

 VETERAN'S FAIR Additional Information: The Blacksburg American Legion Post 182, Christiansburg Recreation Department and the Veterans Outreach Center of Roanoke will be hosting a Veterans Fair at the Christiansburg Recreational Center. The purpose of this event is to help veterans receive assistance in filing benefit claims, to inform them of services available that they may qualify for, and to provide an opportunity to connect with various veterans’ groups in the New River Valley. If you would be interested in being a vendor, please contact Chuck Nelson: chuck@swva.net. Booths are not available to vendors selling products or services for profit. The Christiansburg Recreation Center co–sponsors inclusive programs for people with and without intellectual disabilities. All are challenged to improve skills, develop friendships and promote understanding of each other’s capabilities through a spirit of equality and team unity.
