Meghan Hardy, who had grown up in our church, and her husband, Jeremy, were an active part in our church ministry as Meghan led the youth ministry and Jeremy helped usher us into the computer age. And some of their antics even involved having an “ infamous purple potty ”
landing in a front yard, and it could be removed -- for a generous donation to the youth ministry.
I know that we were led to Bluefield and Westminster by God! Like Father Abraham, we had no relatives and no longtime friends in this new land … At Westminster, I discovered a gold mine of spiritual strength and “ Strengtheners ”… Having left my family in Georgia who had been strong Believers for over a century, I knew that this congregation would be like “ home ” to me and would feed my soul with the Word. Here I found my “ oaks of righteousness ” and here at Westminster I found blessings and strength.
During this time our “ Senior Moments ” ministry gave regular times of fellowship for our senior members. Ah, what dear pillars of the church are included in this photograph!
Last week, we talked about some of the details of the massive church renovation. On May 28, 2010, after twelve years of paying off the renovation costs of 2.1 million dollars, it was time to hold a service of celebration.
Representing three generations of our church family, Nancy, Paul, Ann, Rachel, and Will Looney stood in our place and officially burned the symbolic note that represented a final payment. Just like our church ancestors had done back in

1946, there was great celebration when debt had been paid.
Our time at Westminster was truly a blessed time … For a providentially orchestrated moment in time, we walked together in the Will of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit and were blessed together, to the glory of God.

There are times, in between pastors, when our church staff perseveres for months, sometimes years without a pastor. How thankful we can be for their hearts of service and their willingness to demonstrate what it means to be a faithful, fruitful follower of Jesus Christ.
