MICAH’S Garden
joyce
has been the hallmark of Warm Hearth Village for decades. It conveys the essence of our nonprofit community and the people who live here. We are a community caring for those in need in many ways. A community of people sharing their ideas, talents and resources to help others as they age. These are the ties that bind us together much like the fabric of a quilt. Each of our beautiful lives and stories are bound to one another like a patchwork of fabric being made stronger by our interconnectedness and our commitment to each other.
Micah’s programs
JOYCE In 2017 we were able to assist 30 residents living at Showalter Center and the Kroontje Health Care Center with the cost of their housing, meals and nursing services. Joyce is one of those seniors and she tells us she is extremely grateful to have a safe place like Showalter to live where the nurses take such good care of her. Micah’s Soup for Seniors in partnership with St. Michael’s Lutheran Church and Micah’s Garden have become life sustaining programs for seniors on our campus. Our programs help 100 residents with shelf-stable food items each month and provide more than 80 seniors with much needed toiletries. Our partnership with the NRV Glean Team has enhanced these programs by infusing more than 5,000 pounds of fresh produce into our deliveries to residents like Rebecca, Bridget, Lorraine and Carol.
Cindy Wiley-Lamb is our Service Coordinator and she has developed meaningful relationships with our residents living in Trolinger and New River House Apartments. She helps identify needs and then works with residents like Don to gain access to community services including medical, nutritional and energy assistance. Cindy has been instrumental in helping the Foundation learn more about the true needs of our residents so we can seek funding to better serve them now and in the future. DON
Make a
hazel
In 2017 Hazel and 25 of her neighbors received donated goods and services to help them live independently in their homes. Items like lift chairs, shower chairs and mobility equipment make a real difference in these seniors’ ability to remain mobile, social and healthy.
Please consider becoming part of the beautiful quilt that is Warm Hearth Village and the Warm Hearth Foundation. Offer your time, talents and financial resources to strengthen our commitment to seniors in need. Don, Hazel, Carol, Rebecca, Bridget and Lorraine represent hundreds of seniors who have worked hard all their lives and now need our help and compassion.
