4 District 12 Report to the Virginia State Firefighters Association

November 14, 2018

Attended a meeting of the Fairfax County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, at the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Academy in Fairfax, Virginia. Attended the annual election meeting of the Fairfax County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, hosted by the Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire Department at their station in Dunn Loring, Virginia.

2019 Activities In addition to the membership requirements of maintaining Life Member status in his own volunteer fire department, the District 12 Executive Representative to the VSFA contributed 138 hours of service and participated in the following activities during the period of January-June 2019.

January 7, 2019

Attended a workshop on helping fire service veterans maintain their well- being after retirement. The workshop was titled “Saving Our Own,” and was conducted by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department at the Wellness and Fitness Center in Chantilly, Virginia.

January 18, 2019

Attended the viewing for the late Sharon Brennan, 75, of the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Company in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The viewing was held at the Covenant Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Ms. Brennan was a Licensed Practical Nurse who served at Mary Washington Hospital during her career. Ms. Brennan was active in the volunteer fire service through her work at the Fredericksburg VFC, where she served terms as Secretary to the Department, as well as terms as Treasurer and President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fredericksburg VFC, and as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VSFA. At the time of her Death, Ms. Brennan was serving as a member of the Executive Committee for the Ladies Auxiliary to the VSFA and was an active member of both the VSFA and the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association. She was a tremendous asset to the VSFA, supporting

her husband, Allen, in fire service business travel details across the country in his duties as delegate to the National Volunteer Fire Council and to the Cumberland Valley VFA. She was a great lady to know and it was my privilege
