Benefits of the New Method • Centralization: All project data is in one place. • Easier Navigation: Move between tabs instead of opening new files. • Reduced Risk of Version Issues: Fewer files mean fewer chances of working on outdated versions. • Consistency: Using copied tabs ensures all projects use the exact same format. Definition of a Capital Improvement Project Capital Improvements are major construction or acquisition efforts that are non-recurring in nature. Projects must exceed $15,000 in cost and may include construction of facilities, purchase of major equipment or vehicles with a life expectancy of five years or longer, furnishings for new or renovated buildings, major utility improvements, or land acquisition. Studies are no longer to be included as CIP projects; instead, they should be budgeted under the department’s operating budget. Tabs in the New Workbook 1. Required Cost Estimates (Sheet 1) : Complete the Project Details/Cost Estimates worksheet for each project. Create a new tab within the same workbook for each project. 2.
