TOWN ATTORNEY

NARRATIVE

The Town Attorney provides legal counsel to Blacksburg Town Council and its appointees. Our goal is to advance the interests of the Town through its policies and ordinances, and to reduce potential risks through advance planning and collaboration with Town staff. FY 2026 ACCOMPLISHMENTS  Provided ongoing advice and guidance on implementing the EMS Cost Recovery Program.  Assisted Engineering and GIS with flood plain ordinance update.  “JustFOIA” software, to better manage FOIA request responses, continued to be managed by Audrey Gray.  Provided legal assistance with 2025 corporate boundary line update project.  Tracked the 2025 General Assembly legislation.  Continued to collect delinquent taxes and accounts receivable.  Provided advice in a timely fashion to Council and staff on legal issues.

FY 2027 OBJECTIVES  Professional development through LGA and LGPA conferences.  Assist with Zoning Ordinance overhaul project.
