HOUSING AND COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS OFFICE (continued)

 Continued support for the Claremont School redevelopment project in Pulaski through construction and completion, resulting in six HOME-funded units and 50 income-restricted rental units overall.  Continued support for the Legacy on Main and Stroubles Ridge projects in Blacksburg through site work and construction, resulting in 56 affordable rental units and 20 homeownership units.  Continued predevelopment support for the Old Dublin Middle School redevelopment project in Pulaski, which will provide more than 70 affordable rental units, initiated concept development for a HOME-funded homeownership project in Giles County, and a permanent supportive housing project in Radford. FY 2027 OBJECTIVES Community Connections:  Continue supporting the Town’s communication goals by demystifying the development process and implementing cohesive branding initiatives.  Support community engagement activities that advance the work of other Town departments.  Support successful completion of ARPA-funded subrecipient community projects. Affordable Housing  Pursue new affordable housing policies and initiatives.  Establish a regular funding mechanism for Blacksburg’s Affordable Housing Development Fund.  Support successful completion of ARPA-funded affordable housing projects. CDBG  Support public service agencies that provide essential services to Blacksburg residents. HOME  Ensure completion of the Claremont Project in the Town of Pulaski and the Legacy on Main affordable housing project in the Town of Blacksburg.  Continued support the construction phase of the Stroubles Ridge project in Blacksburg.  Ensure start of construction of a 70+ rental unit affordable housing project in the Town of Dublin and 8 permanent supportive housing rental units in the City of Radford.  Continue to foster development opportunities in the New River Valley HOME Consortium service area to assist local governments in developing affordable housing appropriate for their communities. The priorities this year include the development of regional supportive housing program and advancing predevelopment work in Giles and Floyd.  Continue the Home Repair Program and assist five LMI households.  Create New River Home Trust affordable housing units in the community.
