ENGINEERING AND GIS DEPARTMENT

NARRATIVE The Engineering and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department enhances the community through the delivery of collaborative, innovative, and sound engineering and provision of geospatial information accurately and rapidly to support critical decision making. Engineering services are provided for monitoring, expansion and improvement of the transportation, drinking water, storm water, and sanitary sewer systems to assure reliability, demonstrate best practices and enhance environmental sensitivity. FY 2026 ACCOMPLISHMENTS  Completed the Town Corporate Limits survey with consultant, received final deliverables, and held public hearings for Town and County elected bodies for acceptance.  Finalized construction of Meadowbrook Greenway Trail-Phase 1 and North Main Street Trail projects.  Started construction of the Harding Avenue Drainage, Sidewalk, and Roadway Improvements project.  Started and completed construction of the Revenue Sharing Eheart Street Cycle Track Project.  Finalized the 60% design completion plans for the Clay Street Sidewalk and Roadway Improvement project.  Resumed the design of and public outreach for the Draper Road and W. Roanoke Street Streetscape project.  Completed design of new streetlights to address safety concerns at Patrick Henry Drive and North Main Street.  Supported Public Works with GIS integration and implementation of Central Square product Lucity for Asset Management.  Migrated Key Map Viewer to updated web application version. FY 2027 OBJECTIVES  Upgrade GIS Enterprise deployment from 11.3 to 11.5 to maintain software currency.  Update stormwater utility fees based on 2025 impervious surface deliverables from Eagleview’s aerial flight.  Complete construction of the Harding Avenue Drainage, Sidewalk, and Roadway Improvements project.  Complete design and start construction of the N. Main Street Roundabout Pedestrian Improvements and the Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Improvements projects.  Start and complete construction of the Priority Sidewalk Infill project.  Finalize design of the Draper Road and W. Roanoke Street Streetscape project.  Complete design and construction of the Meadowbrook Parking Lot Expansion.  Complete design of the Church Street Sidewalk Infill project.
