100th Annual Convention

Rev. Harrison Heidel, St. Luke, Hot Springs Rev. Harrison Heidel has served as rector at St. Luke's, Hot Springs, since 2015. Harrison attended The Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA, earning an MDiv. He was ordained in 2003. He has served three years on the Executive Board, Diocese of Southwestern Virginia, and was elected to serve as dean of the Augusta Convocation beginning January 2019. Previously, Harrison served parishes in the Diocese of Western Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada; the Diocese of Vermont; and the Diocese of Colorado. He was the Episcopal Chaplain at the University of Vermont, Burlington and served as Canon Missioner to the Northwest Region of Episcopal Churches in the Diocese of Colorado. Harrison is an avid fly-fisherman and fly-tier.

Rev. Eric Long, St. John’s. Roanoke I have been ordained a priest for 19 years and have served in every size congregation from a church plant to a large church such as St. John's. Within SW Virginia, I was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee in 2018 to fill a vacancy left by a departing priest. I also am a member of the Disciplinary Board. In my former diocese (Central Gulf Coast), I was the president of the Standing Committee and led that group through a bishop retirement and subsequent search.

Rev. Birch Rambo, St. John’s. Wytheville After more than two years in Southwestern Virginia as Rector of St. John's, Dean of the New River Convocation, and Executive Board member I have come to know and love the people and institutions of our Diocese and I am eager to continue to serve them. Having formerly been president of the Standing Committees of the Dioceses of Lexington and Spokane, I understand the committee's canonical duties to our Bishop, our Diocese and the Episcopal Church. Prior to seminary at Sewanee, I pursued my Ph.D. in evolutionary ecology at the University of Kentucky. Since ordination in 2001, I have served in large and small parishes in three dioceses. I am currently pursuing a D.Min. at Sewanee with the hope of adapting models from evolutionary biology to encourage the flourishing of the Episcopal Church and her people.
