FUND SPOTLIGHT The Ghia Borg Memorial Fund David E. Simmons established the Ghia Borg Memorial Fund in 2004 in memory of his wife Gunnel Tyra Margareta Borg, known as Ghia. For twenty years, David served as a chaplain for both the U.S. Navy and the Marines, and he continued his ministry for many years after in Staunton. David was a generous donor throughout this life, noting in 2008, “I like to give. It makes me happy…we always have resources to share with others in need – it’s a matter of priorities.” David created the Ghia Borg Memorial Fund to support general charitable purposes, thereby providing maximum flexibility to the CFNRV to direct grants where they are needed most. Each year, the fund awards approximately $30,000 to a variety of nonprofits through our Responsive Grant Program.
