THANK YOU TO OUR FRIEND & OUTGOING BOARD PRESIDENT, DR. PAT HYER

Dr. Pat Hyer joined the CFNRV board of directors in 2016. Pat worked for Virginia Tech for 23 years, retiring as associate provost for academic administration. During her time at the university, she spearheaded initiatives to make the university a more inclusive and welcoming environment. She was instrumental in establishing the Women’s Center and championed policies focused on work-life balance. Pat’s strengths in policy development and governance have also made a lasting impact at the CFNRV. In partnership with fellow board members, she helped recruit and retain volunteers and created a board self-assessment process. She served as board president from July 2020 to June 2026, a period during which our assets grew from $10.6 million to $26.2 million. In 2024, she established the Higher Impact Fund, an administrative endowment that provides annual support to sustain and expand CFNRV programs. “Pat’s steady leadership, wry sense of humor, and focus on board engagement and development have fueled our growth and expanded how we serve the New River Valley,” shared Dr. Catherine Cotrupi, incoming board president. “We’re so grateful for the time, talent, and treasure she has given to CFNRV and our community over the past decade.”
