Poetry

I nurtured many insects and helped people breathe I inspired a bird’s song about a butterfly and a bee In a verse she chirped, “We’re all part of the Earth” Sun, moon, land, sea, and air

The unanswered riddles of living will always be there So one might ask, what’s the moral of this story? Just that we should all bask in life’s glory Be it mighty or meek, eventually everything will cease In the end I gave my all, but there’s one last lesson I wish to teach Regardless of what you are or your most intimate belief everything matters, even the last remnants of an autumn leaf

Heritage By Delilah O’Haynes You are long shafts of grain, tall stalks of ripened corn, golden glint of peaceful plenty; bubble of mountain brook, blue stillness of summer lake, soft hush of rain, cleansing the soul; deep fragrance of knowledge keepers in twilight forest cathedral, lit by fireflies; sweet grass and sage in sacred medicine bag, bone and rattle, braids and leather of the dance; spirit whisperings; feather philosophy, ancient wisdom of story, streams of morning sunlight through my window, warm on my face.
