But ever so glad that I have been sent To heal children who have been filled with hate To help them get caught up though they’re always late Knowing their struggles and the things they’re going through Sometimes it’s just such hard work, but it’s something we still do Every morning getting there early, every day we’re staying late Often without gratitude, no one seems to appreciate We take our work and worries home with us every day No one understands the things we hear our student-children say Our dreams are nightmares through the night We are scared for the children- the fights they have to fight No matter how much we ever do, it will never be enough But that’s the life of a teacher; we know it’ll be tough Constantly giving even when we have nothing more to give This is the life that most teachers learn to live Even when we have a moment to ourselves, when we get a break We are actively preparing for future generations’ sakes A Day in a Teacher’s Life By Hannah Griffin What an interesting day it has been So very odd to most people, where to begin… I taught, and I hugged, and I wiped away tears I mentored and counseled, I acknowledged fears Patching hearts that are filled with holes Pushing students to achieve dreams and reach for their goals Each day, I am tired, and I am spent But ever so glad that I have been sent To heal children who have been filled with hate To help them get caught up though they’re always late Knowing their struggles and the things they’re going through Sometimes it’s just such hard work, but it’s something we still do Every morning getting there early, every day we’re staying late Often without gratitude, no one seems to appreciate We take our work and worries home with us every day No matter the curves that we teachers are thrown These students and kids, they become our own
