New Faculty Members Mr. Caleb Simpson

Mr. Simpson joins Oak Hill Academy as our broadcast instructor and a resident manager. He graduated from Emory & Henry College in 2018 with a double major in economics and mass communications. While in college, Mr. Simpson ran cross country at the Division III level. He grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where his parents and sister still reside. Mr. Simpson enjoys playing basketball and loves watching sports and traveling. A highlight of his travels was a trip to Cuba in 2017. Mr. Simpson is excited to make a lasting impact at OHA. Ms. Heidi Spohn Ms. Spohn, from North Bend, Washington, joins Oak Hill Academy as a resident manager. She attended Central Washington University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in clinical physiology and biology. Ms. Spohn played soccer, rugby, and lacrosse during her years in college. After graduation, she realized teaching and working with children and young adults was her passion and went back to school. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in education from Western Governors University. Most recently Ms. Spohn worked as an Outdoor Educator at an environmental center in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. When not working, she enjoys spending time hiking, skiing, camping, cooking, and painting. Ms. Spohn is very excited for her next adventure here at Oak Hill. Mrs. Elly Tucker Mrs. Tucker was born in Cebu City, Philippines and immigrated to the U.S. when she was 3 years old. Her family first settled down on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and right before high school, she and her mother moved to the mountains of Grayson County – minutes away from Oak Hill Academy. Mrs. Tucker earned degrees in both Psychology and Business Management from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where she met her husband, Mr. John Tucker. While in college, Mrs. Tucker spent a summer interning for various social enterprises across Guatemala where she learned about and engaged in providing access to vision and clean drinking water. Mrs. Tucker is a tea fanatic! She loves drinking tea and collecting tea pots, cups, and tea memorabilia. In her free time, she can be found baking and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Mr. Ben Winslow A native of Georgia, Mr. Winslow joins Oak Hill Academy as a science and math teacher. He graduated from the University West Georgia in 2011 with his Bachelor of Science in physics. Mr. Winslow resides on campus with his wife Miranda and their two boys, Henry and Dorian. He enjoys gaming, Tae Kwon Do, and reenacting medieval swordsmanship. Mr. Winslow’s absolute favorite thing at OHA is the observatory. He loves the incredible views of the night sky afforded by the mountains. On clear nights, you will more than likely find Mr. Winslow at the observatory taking photos of objects in the sky.
