OHA Welcomes Mr. Carlos Barreda Mr. Barreda joins Oak Hill Academy as our Spanish instructor. He was born in Lima, Peru and Spanish is his native language. He has lived in the U.S. for most of his life having grown up in Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. Barreda graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and has worked as a language instructor for many years. He also lived in France for three and a half years and learned to speak French while there. In his spare time, Mr. Barreda enjoys playing the guitar, the piano, and a little bit of tennis. He feels fortunate to have found a place within the Oak Hill Academy community and looks forward to what’s ahead. Mr. Aaron Grubbs Mr. Grubbs joins Oak Hill Academy as a science instructor and has 16 years of professional teaching experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Longwood University and a master’s in education from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing his doctorate degree from Liberty University. Mr. Grubbs and his wife of almost 15 years, Robin, reside on campus with their dog, Bubbles. He loves to teach science and likes spending time outdoors. He especially enjoys the beauty of the local area and the rich opportunities for hiking, backpacking, and fishing offered here. Mr. Grubbs looks forward to growing the Environmental Science Program at OHA. Ms. Corrine Johnson Ms. Johnson is a Virginia native excited to start not only her first year teaching English and Theatre at Oak Hill, but her first year teaching ever. She graduated from the University of Virginia with her B.A. in English and a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in 2019 and her M.A. in English in 2020. While attending UVA, Ms. Johnson was fortunate enough to receive Intermediate Honors from the College of Arts & Sciences and to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa National Academic Honor Society during her fourth year. She resides on campus with her cat, Ophelia. In her spare time, Ms. Johnson enjoys reading and baking. In addition to heading up the Theatre Club, Ms. Johnson will also be co-sponsoring the cheer and dance team at OHA this year. Mr. Mike Lee A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Mr. Lee joins Oak Hill Academy as a resident manager in the boy’s dormitories. He attended Milligan College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from Asbury University. Mr. Lee and his wife, Haley, are expecting their first child in March and are excited to welcome their baby boy. They also have two dogs, Hank and Jordan. Mr. Lee enjoys playing golf and fishing. He is happy to be part of the OHA community. Mr. Luke Peace Mr. Peace joins Oak Hill Academy as our Dean of Boys. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in history from East Tennessee State University in 2015. He also received his Master of Arts degree from ETSU. In his free time, Mr. Peace enjoys reading non-fiction and playing guitar.
